Landing Craft Assault Vessels:
I Don't exactly know how many actuale vessels operated up in the Mekons tributaries but it must have been quite a few, there were several different fleets, of small craft operating there, so not all got a Emergency Medical Person, nope, a down side of small boats in the Vietnam....but some did, and I guess they would move around as needed-and where ever trouble was most likely to occur. When I was a kid, my Father and his partners were building a boat-about the time we started to pull out, and I think the order for something like 20 of these had been built on a Government Contract, and all these dark green landing craft were around our fishing boat being built in Tacoma, they looked like decent made boats....not bullet proof-but nice.
