7th Army in Post War Germany:
Lieutenant General George S. Patton, receiving command of 7th Army for Operation Torch, made and amphibious landing at the long-low grade beach at Morocco up against the Vichy French Forces as part of the Western Task Force. Being the first all-U.S. force to enter the European war. He came up against the the forces under General Rommel in North Africa. I Armored Corps was redesignated the Seventh Army on 10 July 1943 while underway, and with the invasion fleet, making way to Sicily, being slated as the spearhead of Operation Husky.
